Jayme’s Review:
As soon as I read the synopsis of Life on the Edge I knew I needed to read it. As a child my favorite sport was figure skating. I adored the Winter Olympics, and would strap on my roller blades and the hit the driveway, pretending to be Nancy Kerrigan (I’m such a 90s child.). I’ve probably watched Ice Princess more then I should admit. There’s something so beautiful and elegant about figure skating. And Jennifer Comeaux captures a story about the ice and those who love it so well.
My favorite part of this book was Emily and Sergei– they seemed like such real people and Comeaux makes you root for them. I was dying to see their relationship progress, but waa still hesitant on how it would all end!
As a lover of the Olympics, I really enjoyed the skating scenes and how Emily and Chris work towards their goal of the 2002 Olympics. I also enjoyed this book because of the age of the characters– I’m all about this New Adult genre emerging and I think Life on the Edge is a good fit for it.
The beginning of the book seemed a bit rushed, but thankfully slows down. This is a great debut novel– perfect of romance lovers and those who like competitive sports!
