In search of a future that may not exist and faced with the decision of who to share it with, Cassia journeys to the Outer Provinces in pursuit of Ky – taken by the Society to his certain death – only to find that he has escaped, leaving a series of clues in his wake.
Cassia’s quest leads her to question much of what she holds dear, even as she finds glimmers of a different life across the border. But as Cassia nears resolve and certainty about her future with Ky, an invitation for rebellion, an unexpected betrayal, and a surprise visit from Xander – who may hold the key to the uprising and, still, to Cassia’s heart – change the game once again. Nothing is as expected on the edge of Society, where crosses and double crosses make the path more twisted than ever

Jayme’s Review:

Oh my. I wanted to love this book. Really. I though Matched was the cat’s pajama and raved about it within my first month of being a book blogger. I enjoyed the dystopian world Condie created and Cassia was an interesting character– and I loved both the guys she was torn between. I couldn’t decided between sweet Xander and mysterious Ky. Crossed was high on my list of books I wanted to read as soon as possible. However, Crossed did not live up to my expectations. The book starts off about a year from the end of the first book, and Cassia is hell-bent on finding Ky. Crossed also features Ky as a nararror, so we switch to Ky, who is hell -bent on staying alive.  And by these means, they both find themselves seperatly wandering the same canyon. And they wander. And they wander. And they wander.  And then a secret comes out about Xander– which is the only reason I continued to read about this book. And they wander. And they wander.

If you’re a fan of Matched, you’re really going to have to read this one. But I don’t think I would suggest this series for those you haven’t read it yet. But maybe the last book will be better. I suppose one can suffer through one eh book for a great ending right?

My Review in a Tweet: If you like walking, A LOT, you might like this one. :/

I only read Matched recently, and I loved it. I was looking forward to Crossed and still am but… well, we’ll see how that goes. Thanks for the honest review though! At least I know what to expect going in :)

My review of Crossed goes up I think on Saturday and I had pretty much the same opinion as you. I was so disappointed too! I really liked Matched but I agree that this one was just a lot of waiting on things to happen. I still have to read the next one but I am less excited than I was before.

I totally agree with you about this being a filler book, but still wanting to read the next one.
