cover
For those of you who are like me and love matching covers, this will work well for you. But I will say I have never really liked the first cover much. If it wasn’t that I picked up an ARC of Angelfire, I am not sure I would have even read the series. And then I would have missed out on one my fave angel stories. (of which there are only two – Angelfire and Unearthly)
plot
I’m not going to give away the plot since this is book two, and for those of you who haven’t read one I don’t want to spoil if for you, but I will say this. Courtney knows how to write up some tension. While this book is action filled, much like the first, there is also a lot of back and forth on the romance angle. Their forbidden romance, their centuries of loving each other. Stir the pot a little and you get this amazing tension/want between the characters. More on this later.
I am not a fan of most angel books, though they all follow many of the same principles and lores of fallen angels, and stuff. Angelfire, Unearthly, and Personal Demons are the only ones I ever really go into. And of those three, you will find the most action and awesome battle scenes in this book.
writing style
Like I said above I love the tension this author builds and the battle scenes are cool, however it does make for a long story. Courtney does a good job at keeping you entertained. Though I did lose attention twice throughout reading the story, every time I started reading again I got pulled back in fairly quick.
characters
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Will. What more can you ask for than a guy who will do anything for you, even suffer pain with you (though I imagine the PMS sucks), I have to say this is one of the most romantic couple I have had the pleasure of reading.
And like I said in my Angelfire review: Ellie is bad ass, still is, and her and Will break my heart.
pace
A little slow at times, but action filled as well. See plot and writing style for more about the pace.
uniqueness
So following the typical angel lore, you will find similarities with this book and other angel books, but Courtney does her best to separate Angelfire from the herd.
