cover

I love how these covers look on my shelf! They match, but are unique to each of the books. The typeface is also one of my favorites. Lovely job.

plot

When Meghan Chase’s little brother is kidnapped, she dives into the unknown world of Faery to save him. With only her best friend, the legendary Robin “Puck” Goodfellow, as a guide, she learns about the battle between the Winter and Summer Courts, the mysterious attacks to both courts and her own destiny as daughter of the Summer King. Enter Ash, the dark and cool Winter Prince, who joins Meghan and Puck as they try to save Meghan’s brother and the the entire Fey kingdom. The series continues, revealing the mysterious attacker as a whole new brand of fey– one that can kill both the Summer and Winter courts. They must all make decisions to determine their lives– and try to survive the consequences.

Julie Kagawa has created a unique new story for Fey creatures, young and old. As a new blogger, I entered the Iron Fey world when The Iron Queen was released. I loved  the twists and turns in the plot and my heart broke for each character as decisions and circumstances divided them. Kagawa keeps her readers guessing up to the very end.

writing style

I really enjoyed the world that Kagawa built. Her descriptions really created a magical world. My favorite was the journey that Ash takes in The Iron Knight to the Edge of the World.

characters

I really enjoyed the male leads in this series. Puck is one of my favorite characters– I loved how Kagawa brought his past with him and gave new life to the classic “Robin Goodfellow.” Ash changed tremendously as a character and grew from someone to fear to someone to admire. I felt bad for Meghan as she tried to choose between them– even though I’m definitely Team Ash ;)

pace

The books move along quickly and the action rarely dwindles.

uniqueness

I’ve read several books about fairies since I started this series, but I really think that this series is a standout in the genre, due to the writing and the characters.

I love the Iron Fey series! I still need to read The Iron Knight though. Great post/review!

This is one of my favorite series. I love so much about it, to list it all would take too much time. But in particular, I really loved the world of the Nevernever and the imagination of Julie Kagawa is just amazing. If this series would’ve been twenty books, I’d read them all anxiously and be turning the pages quickly to see what happens.

Also, Team Ash forever.  <3    ;)
